Virtual Conferencing with Elluminate ...
You may be wondering what on earth I am doing posting the above image. Its' a screen snapshot of an example of Elluminate (from the DEECD website.) Now your probably thinking, well what on earth is Elluminate and what does it have to do with me as a Teacher and Professional Development?
Elluminate is essentially your own private virtual meeting room where you can collaborate with colleagues on a familiar subject. It was a very straightforward piece of software to download and setup. The main tools you will require are a piece of audio, which can be as simple as plugging a microphone headset into a usb port or many newer web cams come with a joint audio device already installed in them, so you are set to go as soon as Elluminate has been downloaded.
Now I'm not one to immediately jump in with new software interfacing, so last week (or it may have even been the week before), I joined in and observed my first Virtual Conference through DEECD (yes they are offered and what another great way to access Professional Learning) I used my time to observe how Elluminate works, and how participants interact via chat and audio .. What a wonderful experience, I have now bookmarked the Events Calendar and look forward to further participation (pending on the background noise of course of the 3 Little B's in the afternoon.)
So go now and have a look at what Elluminate can offer you too!
